Elegance, Empowerment and Dinner
Wednesday night I attended by far the most empowering networking event - Dinner With Tiffanie "EventPlanner" of Bird of Paradise Events. Now, for those who do not know who Tiffanie is, she is my industry mentor and owner of Bird of Paradise Events.
Networking never gets old when you're a wedding planner. Why? Because the possibilities are endless! Dinner was held at the beautiful Royal Sonesta Harbor Hotel. Decor was breathtaking!
Just in time for International Women's Day, about 15 women came out to enjoy a seated 3-course dinner, elegant decor, and open, casual industry conversation. As a planner, and mentee of the amazing Tiffanie, I had an amazing time! It's always a good time when you can meet and mingle with like-minded people.
Here's my tidbit on networking, coming from someone who hasn't always been the best "networker" - No matter what industry you're in or how long you have been perfecting your craft, networking is something that is beneficial at all times. Networking doubles as a business and personal investment for most. Who doesn't want to meet new people?! Especially when those new people can aid in the growth of ones business.
An opportunity like this - to sit among other planners with varied years of experiences, was both exciting and humbling. I was reminded of my favorite quote (which I keep posted at my desk on a bright pink post-it note, for daily affirmation): "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go with others."
Tiffanie, if you're reading this, I hope that Dinner with Tiffanie becomes a staple in your Bird of Paradise book of events. If I could redo the night, I wouldn't change a thing!
